When we decided to leave North Carolina and retire to Manistee, Michigan, we knew we had an epic journey on our hands. Luckily, we found Realtor Raquel Rae to guide us. We wanted an agent who would listen, have our back, and most importantly, know how to figure stuff out and then make things happen. She was all of this and more and cannot recommend her highly enough. When we found a house on a Saturday evening, she was at the home on Sunday morning to provide a video tour, which kicked off a process that lead us to making an offer and closing within 30 days. When we interviewed her earlier, I asked about her problem-solving process and she explained that often, it’s just a matter of picking up the phone, talking to the right person and then finding a way forward, which is just what she did with us. When we ran into winkles, she was calm, wise, and focused on finding a solution. The biggest hump was the surprise discovery of an expensive repair that had to happen. When we needed a second inspection to clear a hurdle around that, she made it happen over the weekend and proposed a counteroffer that both the sellers and we could live with. Also, the local lender knew her and it was clear she did an awesome job working with them to keep us rolling toward a closing. She knows the town and the people. And how to work with them. And it was more than evident that they trusted and respected her. I’ve always put a high premium on people who keep their cool, find a way forward and manage to make you think they’ve got all the time in the world for you. We decided to look for a lakeside vacation property in Michigan and spotted a promising looking listing on Hamlin Lake near Ludington MI (Winter of 2025.). Raquel Rae was the listing agent. Though it was very much off-season, this property was getting a lot of attention and we learned that if we had any serious interest we needed to move quickly. I'm pretty real estate savvy and as I buyer I prefer to work with the listing agent, so we also asked Raquel to also represent our interests. This puts a Realtor in a somewhat tricky position - representing two (at times) competing interests. That takes some serious chops to do well.
