One star feels generous. I lived in an Open Path property for nearly two years, and it was easily the most frustrating rental experience I’ve ever had. Within the first month, we discovered the unit below us—never disclosed to us as an Airbnb—was hosting loud, all-night parties that went until five in the morning. This kicked off a revolving door of noisy, disrespectful short-term guests, with zero intervention from Open Path or their manager, Hector. One guest even entered our private back porch and walked into our apartment. Hector had promised that Airbnb tenants would not have access. They did. Repeatedly. And nothing was done, no matter how many times we followed up. Eventually, the Airbnb was turned into a long-term rental. But the noise problems continued. The walls and floors were so poorly insulated we could hear even casual conversations from downstairs. Again, no effort was made to address it. The most alarming incident came when a male Open Path employee let himself into our apartment without warning to take videos. As two young women living alone, we were terrified. When we called Hector to report it, he was openly hostile and told us to “sue him” if we had a problem. Hector was consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Even longtime homeowners in the neighborhood warned us about him before we had the chance to bring up his name. There are too many issues to list, but they include weeks without a working kitchen, poor insulation that made it impossible not to hear the unit below, and a complete lack of accountability from management. Living here was invasive, stressful, and exhausting. Don’t rent from them.
